Harold Byrd has served in the UAW for approximately 26 years with passion and dedication. Most of his time in service has been with Dearborn Assembly. He has always been willing to be of assistance to the Local 600 chaplaincy program. While at the Stamping Plant he was more than happy to appoint a Chaplaincy Chair to assist with the spiritual need of the membership. It is no surprise that Mr. Byrd was appointed to be the next Local 600 Chaplaincy leadership to follow President Anthony Richard in this position.
He was hired in 1997 at Michigan Truck Plant located in 2001 Wixom Assembly, and then came to Dearborn Assembly in 2003. He graduated from Auto Industry Studies, and numerous other Labor Education Programs. He was District and Bargaining Committee person at Dearborn Stamping Plant. He also was elected to 3-terms as President of Dearborn Stamping Plant. He served as the Local 600 Recording Secretary from 2018-2020; and as an Administrative Assistant to Local 600 President from 2020-2023. In 2023 Harold was elected to the position of 2nd Vice President of Local 600.
Harold Byrd will certainly be an asset to the Chaplaincy Program because of his background and big heart. We will be going forward in the year 2024 with plans to better serve the membership and we look forward to every minute of him being a blessing to the people. The Chaplaincy Program is growing by leaps and bounds. Each new leadership in chaplaincy brings more creative ideas that helps with its growth. Harold Byrd serves with humility and patience which is much needed in a program so delicate and diverse.
