Jay’s career with the UAW started in 1996 when he was hired at the Ford Sheldon Rd. Plant in Plymouth, Michigan. Through the collective bargaining agreement, he was transferred to the Dearborn Diversified Manufacturing Plant in 2007, where he continued his career with UAW Local 600.
Jay has held numerous elected positions within the UAW, negotiated numerous contracts, and continued labor education. He was first elected in 2003 to the District Committee, Bargaining Rep 2006–2007, Bargaining Rep 2010–2013, Vice President/Bargaining 2013–2015, Convention Delegate 2018, served on the Convention Credentials Committee, and was Plant Chairman of DDMP 2015–2020.
Jay’s dedication to the UAW extends beyond his elected positions. He has a passion for labor education and has studied at Wayne State Labor Studies, MSU, and U of M Labor Studies. Currently, he is chairing the education committee at UAW Local 600, where he plays a crucial role in assisting Local 600 members in furthering their labor education.
Jay has served as Financial Secretary from 2020 to the present. He has fulfilled his duties by maintaining a balanced budget, properly maintaining financial books and records, per capita taxes, and bargaining the responsibilities of local 600 units.
Most importantly, Jay has a proven track record of fighting for our members, demanding justice, and protecting our contractual rights. He has been a union activist and a fighter for social justice since joining the UAW, and he will continue this legacy of Local 600.
