Mark’s Story
Advancing through a series of nine advancements since 1993, Mark has led many strategic initiatives that have had a positive impact on multiple areas in the UAW. Such as driving cost down, improving overall performance of various UAW Local 600 Units.
Mark joined the production line in 1993 until 1996 at Ford Motor Company, Dearborn Assembly Plant. He then decided to further his skills in 1996 and began the Ford Motor Company, Tool & Die Apprenticeship. From 1999 to 2004, Mark increased his responsibilities as a Committee Replacement for the Ford Motor Company Tool and Die Unit and Safety Trainer for the Dearborn Tool and Die Plant, certified in GRASP, ECPL, Lifting and Rigging, and PMHV. These positions inspired Mark to further his studies in Collective Bargaining and Labor Relations. In 2002, he graduated from Wayne State University, from the Labor Studies Program.
After graduating from Wayne State, Mark held an elected position as the UAW Local 600 Guide, from 2002 to 2005. Mark was then elected as Tool & Die Unit Bargaining Committee in 2004, and General Council Delegate in 2006. Mark continued to expand his skill set and knowledge within the UAW, and in 2008 he was elected Tool & Die Unit Vice President and Bargaining Committee, then Tool & Die Unit Chairman in 2010 to 2011. In 2010, Mark held multiple elected positions; Tool & Die Convention Delegate and Vice President, Region 1A Skilled Trades Council, Ford Division. In 2011, DePaoli was honored to be appointed to the Local 600 Education Committee and as an Elected Alternate National Negotiator of National Ford Department, Sub-council #3 (Skilled Trades) for 2011 National Negotiations. Since 2011, Mark has served as the elected Financial Secretary of Local 600, where he has worked to maintain a balanced budget year after year, while also overseeing dues, servicing several units, along with coordinating many of the Local 600 events.
Mark resides in the Detroit Metro Area, where he and his wife are raising their son. He stays active in the community and has served as a coach for several youth sport teams. Mark enjoys playing hockey, golfing, working out and spending time with his family and friends.
